Start Your Lives - With Us
Whether you've just been popped the question or you just introduced a new baby into the family, start your new journey - with us. CBT is here to guide you through all the hoops and be your financial partner.
Just Engaged
The question was asked and your partner said, “Yes!” - but now what? Before you start picking out the dress or the venue, let us get you financially ready for this next step in life.
First, you need to start a budget. With CBT’s online banking, we offer a great (FREE!) tool to budget for your big day called Money Manager. Connect all your accounts and cards from all financial institutions into one place to start your budget for any event or financial goal - start one for your wedding or your honeymoon. Decide how much you and your partner are willing to spend on your wedding then divide it out into your specified categories (venue, food, entertainment, etc.)
Next, open a Future Funds Savings account or one of our other free savings options to set your money aside until you need to start paying for expenses or put down for a deposit.
Now, CBT has great home loan options available to everyone. Whether you live together already and looking for a new home to start your lives together, or wanting to update one of your pads to make it yours together. It’s not a bad idea to get pre-approved for a mortgage or home equity loan.

Another item on your list is to decide if you plan to have a joint account, keep your money separate, or both. There are a lot of benefits of sharing an account with your partner such as simplifying paying bills or you both having an understanding of where your money is being spent. Whichever you choose, CBT is here to help you decide which is best and which checking account will work for you. Check out all of our checking account options here and if you have any questions, we'd love to help you choose what works best for you. We really recommend GO checking as a great option for young couples.
Just Married
Now, you’ve said your “I do”s and walked down the aisle - but now what? Changing your name and your bank accounts should be one of the first items on your newly married life agendas.
When changing your name, head to your nearest CBT branch location, bring your new driver’s license and your marriage certificate. You should request new checks and debit cards on top of changing the name attached to your accounts.
New Baby
We at CBT invest our time in caring about all of our clients needs - big or small. We know the importance of children learning about saving some dough at an early age and we're here to help start their journey!
Joining our Community Kids Club means joining our CBT Family. We'll teach Community Kids Club members how to save, reward them for report cards and other important milestones while providing helpful money tips. We also think it's important to provide parents the resources needed to encourage a secure financial foundation.
